Consultation Paper – Review of Institutional Membership
ALIA's consultation paper reviewing ALIA institutional membership.
The purpose of the review is to:
- identify improvements to enhance institutional benefits
- understand the interplay between institutional membership and personal membership
- make structural adjustments as required
The paper outlines proposed changes to the institutional membership model.
Anne Harrison Award: research hot topics (2024)
Miss Anne Harrison (1923-1992) was librarian-in-charge of the Brownless Medical Library at the University of Melbourne (1949-1983), and founder of the Central Medical Library Organisation (1953-1994). She helped pioneer the introduction of Medline into Australia, and was a founder of the Australian Medical Librarians Group in the early 1970s, and later of the LAA Medical Librarians Section (now ALIA Health Libraries Australia).

Introduction: From 2010 to 2013 the State Library of Western Australian undertook a project to digitise its significant collection of oral histories. One of the key outcomes of this project was to make digitised oral histories available for access online; however copyright concerns were a major barrier to this outcome. It is the responsibility of the researcher and ALIA to ensure that any research funded by the Association meets national ethical guidelines.
This form should be completed by ALIA research grant holders.

The purpose of the award is to enable the recipient to undertake a research program on a selected library or information issue of present and future relevance to the development and improvement of library and information services in Australia.
